Diaochan is a mage hero known for her high burst damage, crowd control abilities, and AOE skills. Her kit revolves around her passive, Explosion of Fragrance, which allows her to deal true damage and slow enemies. Despite her high damage output and crowd control, she is vulnerable due to her low health and lack of escape abilities. Diaochan’s effectiveness largely relies on good positioning, skill shot accuracy, and timing. Her strengths lie in team fights, but she’s susceptible to crowd control and can be easily taken down if focused or caught out of position.

HOK Diao Chan Skills and Abilities

Explosion of Fragrance (Passive): Each of Diaochan’s skill hits will stack a Flower Mark on the enemy, lasting for 8 seconds. When 4 layers are stacked, the mark is triggered, restoring 120 points of health to Diaochan, and dealing 180 (+43% spell bonus) points of true damage to surrounding enemies and reducing their movement speed by 50%, lasting for 1 second.

Cooldown: 0s Cost: 0

Tips: Each time Diaochan uses other skills to cause the mark to explode on the enemy, the explosion will cause area damage and slow down the enemies. This damage ignores the enemy’s armor defense and is true damage.

Returning Lotus (Skill 01): Diaochan swings a flower ball in the designated direction. After the ball has flown for a while, it returns to Diaochan’s hand, dealing 180/220/260/300/340/380(+57% spell bonus) points of spell damage to enemies along the path during its outgoing and return journey.

Cooldown: 5s Cost: 40

Tips: Deals damage twice on a straight line. Because there is a certain delay, the direction of the opponent needs to be anticipated.

Petals in the Wind (Skill 02): Diaochan instantly disappears and reappears at the designated position, scattering 3 flower balls to attack nearby enemies, each dealing 140/155/170/185/200/215(+28% spell bonus) points of spell damage. If the flower balls hit an enemy, it will reduce the cooldown by 4 seconds.

Cooldown: 10s Cost: 45

Tips: Diaochan’s second skill allows her to teleport and deal damage 3 times to the nearest enemy. If all 3 hits land on the same enemy, it will directly trigger the passive slow effect. This skill can also be used to escape through walls. Use it carefully when the ultimate skill is not available.

Flowery Potential (Ultimate): Diaochan blooms in place to form a magic circle. When the circle is formed and disappears, it will cause 210/245/280 (+50% spell bonus) points of spell damage. When Diaochan is within the range of the magic circle, Skill 01 and Skill 02 will receive additional cooldown reduction.

Cooldown: 40/35/30s Cost: 80

Tips: The ultimate skill is a very dominant AOE skill for Diaochan. Although the damage of the ultimate skill is average, it can trigger the passive effect on enemies in a large range, allowing Diaochan’s other skills to deal more damage and cool down faster.

Teammates Recommendation

  1. Dreambuilder: Diaochan is a hero who is quite afraid of control, and she needs a teammate to withstand the attack from the enemy for her. Dreambuilder’s ultimate can remove most of the control and increase damage resistance, improving Diaochan’s survivability and combat ability. It is a perfect match for Diaochan.
  2. Bai Qi: When facing heroes who cut into battle, Diaochan needs to maintain a safe distance. Bai Qi can not only taunt with his ultimate, allowing Diaochan to deal damage in a safer environment, but also control a group of enemies when they are standing close together (taunt effect), allowing Diaochan to deal more AOE true damage freely.

Counter Hero

  1. Zhang Liang’s hard control can easily control Diaochan.
  2. Hua Mulan’s ultra-high burst output can quickly kill Diaochan who is not positioned well.

Tips:

Assassin heroes should wait for Diaochan to use her dash skill before engaging.

Use heroes with hard crowd control. After Diaochan dashes in, control and kill her.

Try not to stand too close to avoid being hit by Diaochan’s AOE on multiple enemies.

Team Fight Strategy

In the laning phase, as long as she is safe, Diaochan can use her second skill to hit the enemy, then follow with her first skill for damage. Thanks to the cooldown reduction when her second skill hits, Diaochan can flexibly choose to continue engaging or retreat after the dash. Don’t be stingy with her ultimate; cooldown reduction during team fights is extremely important.

During team fights, Diaochan should wait for the enemy heroes to use some of their control skills before using her second skill to dash in, followed by her ultimate and first skill. This way, Diaochan’s cooldowns can be quickly refreshed, allowing her to frequently use her first and second skills for damage output. Consider using the invulnerability skill to prevent being quickly killed by focused fire.
